If your dog ...
✔ Gets too excited around other dogs
✔ Ignores you in social settings
✔ Struggles with on or off-leash greetings
✔ Makes you feel anxious every time you see a dog...
It’s not a socialization problem.
It’s a foundation problem that obedience alone won't fix!

Your Dog Isn’t “Bad” at Socializing…
They’re Missing These 4 Foundational Skills
Learn the 4 Key Qualities every dog needs before socialization so they can greet calmly, listen to you, and succeed around other dogs (even off-leash!).
"The training and transformation of Lindy has been incredible. My stress level is practically zero, where as prior I was crying daily. Lindy is much more comfortable with other dogs and is getting better every day. My relationship with Lindy changed and I’m so in love with my dog. I’m so grateful." - Mindy
Most dog owners try to “socialize” too soon… and it backfires because safe, successful socialization doesn’t start with other dogs. It starts with your dog having the right internal foundation.
Every socially successful dog has these 4 key qualities first. Wtihout them, socialization becomes stressful, unpredictable, sometimes even dangerous.
✔ 1. Emotional Regulation
→ Your dog can stay calm instead of exploding with excitement or anxiety
✔ 2. Energy Management
→ Your dog doesn’t rush, fixate, or overwhelm other dogs
✔ 3. Trust in their Person
→ Your dog chooses YOU over distractions
✔ 4. Confidence
→ Your dog can handle new environments without shutting down or overreacting
"Before Rhonda, one trainer stuck us in the hall, away from all other dogs because Thai would bark the entire class. The second trainer informed me Thai would just never be a dog who could socialize with other dogs. I was crushed to say the least. I went from dreading even seeing another dog to watching my dog play off leash with 10 other dogs. Thai now has a foster sister with zero aggression toward her.” - Mandy
I’ve worked with thousands of dogs in real group socialization settings, where dogs either succeed… or struggle fast. And I’ve found that every successful social dog has these 4 qualities first.

Common Questions
Is Foundations right for your dog?
Q. Will this work if my dog is reactive or has been "given up on" by other trainers?
Yes — these are exactly the dogs Foundations was built for. Many of my private clients came to me after being told their dog "just isn't social" or being asked to leave group classes. Those dogs aren't broken. They're missing the foundational skills that make socialization possible in the first place. If you've been told your dog can't be social, keep reading.
Q. I've already tried obedience classes and other trainers. Why would this be different?
Because obedience doesn't change a dog's emotional state. A dog can sit, stay, and heel perfectly and still be anxious, frustrated, or overwhelmed the moment another dog appears. Foundations teaches what obedience never addresses — emotional regulation, social awareness, and how dogs actually experience interactions. True friendliness is an emotional skill, not a command.
Q. Is this for puppies, adult dogs, or both?
Both. The four foundational skills matter at every age. Puppies benefit from building them before bad habits form. Adult dogs benefit from finally getting the foundation they never received. If your dog is old enough to go on a leash walk, they're old enough for this.
Q. How long does it take to see changes in my dog?
Some dogs show real changes within the first week — a calmer response to the neighbor's dog, a softer pull on the leash, a dog who can actually take a treat on a walk. Other dogs need more time, especially if they've had years of stressful experiences to unlearn. The course is self-paced with lifetime access, so you can move at the speed your dog needs.
Q. Does it matter what breed or size my dog is?
No. The four foundational qualities apply across breeds and sizes. The lessons include guidance on how to think about and start socialization with breed-specific instinctual drives and play styles, so you'll understand how your dog's wiring shapes their behavior — whether you've got a working-line German Shepherd, a reactive rescue, or an excitable Goldendoodle.
Q. How much time do I need to commit each week?
The video content is about 4 hours total, broken into short lessons you can watch whenever works. The actual training exercises are built to fit into your daily routine — meals, walks, quiet moments at home — so you're not adding another thing to your calendar. Most students watch a lesson or two per week and practice as they go.
Q. What if I buy it and it's not a fit?
You have 30 days to try it. If it doesn't help your dog make real progress, email us and we'll refund every cent. No forms, no questions, no hassle.

✔ Voted Best Dog Trainer in Vermont

Hi, I’m Rhonda.
I specialize in real-world socialization, including structured group environments where behavior shows up quickly.
While most dog training programs focus on obedience, very few teach how to safely and effectively socialize dogs in group settings. That’s where I’ve focused my work.
I developed a system to build the key qualities dogs need before socialization, so interactions become calm, predictable, and successful. I’ve also guided hundreds of students through this process with their own dogs. That’s exactly what I’ll show you inside this training.
"Bristol is learning to greet off leash dogs in a friendly way, control her excitement in new situations, and remain obedient in high distraction environments! Since the training we have received dozens of comments from friends and family about the amazing difference they see in Bristol and how enjoyable she is to be around now. I am so thankful we found Rhonda, she gave us to tools and techniques to live in harmony with Bristol" - Katie
"For fear of being yelled at by the people she barked at or her getting into a fight with another dog, we stopped taking Bella to public places. I now take Bella hiking off leash and to the park on a regular basis–no more hiding for us! Her skills/knowledge far exceeded our expectations. Rhonda has helped us achieve what I honestly didn’t think was possible–I have a social dog again!” - Phoebe
"Audra was getting worse around other dogs and intentionally slipped her collar and chased after two different dogs. Though she didn’t bite either dog, she pushed and “beat up” the other dogs. We realized we needed a switch. Now we recognize her body language and signals to prevent any escalation and she can successfully greet other dogs both on and off leash, even in large groups. Training with Rhonda has changed Audra from a dog that we were perpetually nervous about taking outside into a trusted member of the family.”- Sam
